As a former Finance Committee member and current School Committee member, I have a deep understanding of town government and finances. I’m running for re-election to Town Meeting to ensure that our resources are dedicated to the things that make Reading special - excellent schools, reliable town services and a fantastic quality of life for all residents.

I have been fortunate to serve as a Town Meeting member for the past 5 years, and I am hoping to be elected for another term. I first ran for Town Meeting in order to gain a better understanding of how our local government works. I also wanted to see a more representative cross section of Reading serving the town. Of particular interest to me is helping our town think proactively and long term about our students, our seniors, and our resources. Please consider a vote for me on April 5th.

I am running to leverage my volunteer and prior Town Meeting experience to help the town continue to prioritize services and investments that benefit all town residents. I have 20+ years of professional experience in finance, supply chain management and procurement, which help me understand large investments and financial opportunities. This includes education, small business services and infrastructure, energy services (see also my RMLD campaign statement) and support for seniors.

Served on Town Meeting for 5+ years with great appreciation for considerations that go into Town & School operations/spending. Running for re-election to stay informed about and be an active participant in Reading’s growth and how that impacts all residents, students to seniors. Have 3 children who are/have gone through RPS. Continue to be an active member in several school & community groups (SEPAC, School Council, Community Conversations, etc). Hope to continue representing my neighbors.

I have seen the importance of being represented in town government by neighbors willing to engage in respectful, open dialog. We have important issues to address that shape the future and direction of Reading. As a former chair for HRAC, member of the Human Relations Advisory Ad Hoc, and former president & treasurer of Coolidge’s parent group for Science Olympiad, I’ve a track record of getting involved & making a difference. I want to continue this effort more broadly for town wide decisions.

I've been on Town Meeting for over 10 years, and I believe that balanced, informed, inquisitive and involved participation in town meeting is critical for effective town management. I can't count the number of times I thought I knew the answer, but listened and learned from presenters and my fellow town meeting members to arrive at a vote that often surprised me. I understand the process, and understand the balance between town needs and fiscal responsibility. I attend, I listen, I care.

I have been an actively engaged Precinct 8 Town Meeting member and Wood End Mom for 20 years. I am particularly proud of my advocacy for the Franklin St sidewalks, the traffic safety improvements at Main & Franklin and the work my husband, Stephen and I did to make the Wood End accessible playground a reality. I have served on the RHC, the Finance Committee, as Precinct Captain (2yrs) & as the Chair of the Select Board. It would be my pleasure to continue this important advocacy.

I'm running because I believe in giving back to my community. I truly believe it takes a village and if we can all do our little part to help our local community, we become stronger together. I look forward to working together with fellow neighbors to continue to build a vibrant Reading that supports our neighbors today and also lays a strong foundation for future generations to thrive.

I grew up in Reading (RMHS'81) on Pasture Road. Since moving back to Reading, I have become an Associate Member of the Reading Historical Commission. I am interested in the workings of our Town government and would be honored to represent Precinct 8 at Town Meeting. I retired from a multinational corporation as General Manager after 28 years of service and currently teach college-level business courses at Lasell University part-time.

My husband and I moved to Reading in 1999, and we love this remarkable community where our children have grown up. I have volunteered in many roles in the RPS, Scouts, ROLT, the Conservation Commission and on other town committees and community organizations. I have served as a town meeting member for 15 years and enjoy listening to diverse opinions and engaging in respectful dialogue to address the needs of all residents.

Hi! I am running for the first time. If elected, I would focus on four areas: One, supporting our small businesses and long term economic development. Two, increasing civic involvement. Three, using technology to improve our citizens' interactions with town departments. I have over 20 years experience as a software executive doing this for Fortune 50 companies. I would love to help Reading. Finally, I am a parent with children at Wood End and RPS’s success is key to our town’s growth.

Contact me to join email discussion about Town Meeting, which I created to encourage communication. I lived in Reading for 30+ years, raised two children in our schools, Town Meeting member, & election worker. My priorities include: safety, children, seniors, anyone disadvantaged or marginalized. Also: responsible use of tax money, seeking grants, a vibrant business district, unhealthy polarization of town politics. Have you read this far? Contact me with your concerns: BMackenzie@alum.mit.edu

I have been a Town Meeting Member for the past five years. I have three children in the RPS and was a strong supporter of the override in 2018. Reading voters expect us to be responsible stewards of these funds and to delay the need for another override for as long as possible. With inflation now running at 8%, this is going to mean tough choices. It is going to be critically important to make fiscally responsible decisions and to prioritize our spending over the coming years.

I have lived in Reading since 1988 and taught at RMHS from 1984 to 2019. I believe it is important to volunteer where I can be useful. I have been on the Executive Board of the Reading Teachers Association, been a Girl Scout leader, and volunteered in many roles at my church. I have been a member of the Reading Conservation Commission since January 2020 and am the director of the Massachusetts Science Olympiad. I have served on Town Meeting for 6 years and would like to continue to serve.

Reading has been my family's home for 19 years. My two college-age sons are RPS graduates. I have been active in many school- and community-based groups for years, including Town Meeting from 2009-2011. I favor listening, asking tough questions and taking all perspectives into account when making decisions on behalf of fellow residents. I'm known by Liz Rogers, but look for me as Elizabeth on your ballot!

I have been a TM member for the past 3 years, and would love to serve again. I love Reading. My husband and I have been raising our three children here since 2009. My elderly parents moved to Reading about 5 years ago. I am deeply invested in working together for our entire community. I hope to continue to represent precinct 8 with upcoming decisions for our town.

Budget oversight. Plain and simple. The way we spend money concerns me. We have needs and the wants. We need to make sure we are focusing on items that effect our town and our taxes.
