Precinct 7

I have lived in Reading since 2006. My wife grew up in Reading. My boys grew up in Reading and attended school grades 1 - 12. I have been a Town Meeting Member since 2008. I first ran because I want to give back to the community and be a part of town government and part of running the town. I enjoy public service and being part of shaping Reading. I am interested in continuing my service.

I'm running for Town Meeting of Precinct 7 because I am a reasonable listener and voice. I'm running because any town governance needs balance and equity. I would vote based on sound validity of ideas rather than bipartisan alliances. There are a lot of people who have volunteered over the years and I believe we all have an obligation to participate in our local governance. I'd like the opportunity to do just that and I know I can do it with fairness.

I have been a Town Meeting member for five years. Understanding the Warrant and listening to community feedback is critical to the role of a town meeting member and one that I am fully committed to. I am a mother of two boys who attend RPS and participate in many school groups. Through participation in town meeting, I hope to contribute to Reading's growth while always considering the impact on all residents, from seniors to students. I ask for your vote on April 5th.

I am seeking re-election and aim to be a constructive contributor to sound budgeting and smart choices for a vibrant and healthy community. I am guided by community input and seek full and accurate information for decisions that make Reading a pleasant place to live, work, learn, and raise a family—for all people of all ages and backgrounds. And I sincerely enjoy the opportunity to listen to other perspectives and exchange knowledge through respectful discourse in casting votes for our town.

I have been a Reading resident for 21 years. My children received excellent educations from the Reading Public Schools, and I want to give back. I volunteered for many years as Treasurer of the Parent/Teacher Organizations at Birch Meadow (5 years), Coolidge (3 years), and RMHS (4 years); I was appointed last summer to Reading's Finance Committee. However, the final decisions are made at Town Meeting. If elected, I will combine my experience with the opinions of voters in my precinct.

I’ve decided to run for a TM member position because I think it’s important to participate in the place you call home. I think that everyone has a unique perspective and bringing that experience to the discussions, planning and decision making gets all of us to a better place. Differences of opinion aren’t bad things. Find common ground, respect one another, and work toward solutions that are best for all. That’s my philosophy and approach. I’m happy to serve if elected.

A twenty-year town meeting member, I am a strong supporter of the schools and library. I appreciate and value the benefits of quality instruction, supportive services and extracurricular activities that encompasses the needs, interests, and abilities of all children. One of my most meaningful contributions to Town Meeting was raising the need for inclusive language in the Town By-Laws. I enjoy beekeeping, tending my small flock of chickens, gardening, biking, and playing the banjo.

I'm proud to be a Town Meeting member & member of the Board of Health. I believe that being an elected member of Town Meeting is not only a commitment to reading the Warrants and participating in the meetings. It takes being aware of the issues of concern for residents and businesses AND being an active participant and observer in Town governance and operations all year round. Reading resident since 2001 & I've worked with local, regional & state govt for 20 years. Honored to ask for your vote!

My family has roots in Reading going back to the early 1800's. I grew up in Reading, and raised my children here. Now that I'm retired, after working 20 years at Northeastern University, I'm eager to become more involved with this community. My primary areas of interest/expertise are education, the library, and communication, and I'm interested in balancing community growth and improvements with fiscal responsibility.

Reading is a fantastic place because of its people. During a time when we are emerging from COVID restrictions and considering our priorities for federal stimulus dollars, Town Meeting should strike a balance between our addressing our community's needs and maintaining our sound financial footing. I served on Town Meeting in 2020-21 and currently serve on the Finance Committee. I hope to continue to serve Precinct 7 at Town Meeting.

I have been an elected member of Town Meeting since 2017. By volunteering I have learned how our local government works and how to advocate for important issues at the town level. I was a founding member of Reading Embraces Diversity (RED) and I am a board member for the Birch Meadow PTO where my daughters attend school. It is important to me to set an example of civic engagement for them. I am a good listener, passionate about our community and would love to continue to represent our precinct.

I am grateful to have a home and raise a family here in Reading and I would like to volunteer in the community. I follow town issues and would like to be more directly involved in decision-making. I have a background in finance and am very interested in procedures and policies. I am curious and analytical and would approach Town Meeting work with humility and thoughtful consideration. I would be honored with your vote to represent Precinct 7 at Town Meeting.

I have lived in Reading for 16+ years. My son attended Reading Public Schools throughout. I have coached Coolidge and High School Science Olympiad teams. I am interested in investing time and effort towards realizing our community's hopes, aspirations, and dreams for our young people. If elected, I will study the issues, consider opinions of all members of precinct 7 and vote accordingly. I request your vote to serve our community.

I enjoy volunteering in our community. I’ve been on boards, committees & founded a nonprofit here. I’ve volunteered in the RPS & graduated from RMHS. My criminal & family law firm is in Reading. I help the indigent in our area by accepting court appointed cases when I can. I’m highly skilled at maintaining a calm composure when dealing with anyone who’s difficult or unreasonable while remaining neutral & unbiased. I’m happy to serve all of the people of Reading. Thank you for your consideration.

I am a 29 year resident of Reading. For 20 years I volunteered in various roles in RPS from Room Parent, to Co-President of PTO(s), to Co-President of PSST. There is a responsibility as members of a community to give back where we can. I want to continue to serve Reading as a town meeting member. I will do my research on the warrants, listen to different perspectives, engage in respectful dialog, and base decisions on facts to keep our town fiscally healthy and a welcoming community.

In Reading, I have made great friends, raised my kids, held volunteer positions and enjoyed many benefits the town offers, including its residents, strong academics, recreational activities, town services and skyrocketing home prices due to our proximity to Boston. I believe we have an opportunity and obligation to make Reading a more welcoming and inclusive place, through concerted DE&I efforts, anti-racist and anti-discriminatory education and policies. I appreciate your consideration.

I’ve lived in Reading for 37 years and have volunteered for most of them, i.e. School Bldg. Committee, Charter Review Committee, Bylaw Committee, TMM since 1993. Town Meeting is changing, however. I am concerned about the factionalism that is creeping into its deliberations. I have always regarded all TMM’s (not just Pct. 7's) as my neighbors, not as opponents and will continue to do so if re-elected. Reading is still too small a town to have its local government splintered by ideologues.

John Sullivan
I grew up in Reading and moved back to raise my family. I have been a TM member for 3 years and a member of the Conservation Commission for 2. I am running to help make sure the Reading where I am raising my kids is even better than the Reading I grew up in. It is critical that the decisions we make at TM support our town’s present and future, and will move Reading forward for everyone. I support transparency, fiscal responsibility, and equity. I respectfully ask for your vote.

I've lived in Reading for 22 years. I am an educator and a mother of two. I've served as a TMM for the last 5 years. I care about our community and listen to all the facts and opinions before I vote on all topics. I am dedicated to helping make the decisions that keep our town, our citizens and our children safe and successful.

I have lived in Reading for 35+ years, and I have been a Town Meeting Member for 10+ years. I have served on a Master Plan Advisory Committee and on a Charter Review Committee, and I am now an associate member of the Human Relations Advisory Committee. I care about the residents, the Town, and the wider community. I care about public education, public health, and human services, etc. I try to stay informed about town issues, and I appreciate constituent input. I would appreciate your vote.
